This past November I received an early morning email on my newly created business account that surprised me. I had been eagerly checking my email as my commission requests were slowly but steadily keeping me encouraged. The sender, Condé Nast London, was inviting me to advertise my art in their World of Interiors magazine. I was stunned. Having only launched my art business and website three months prior, I felt so honored to be recognized by a company in London, U.K. I eagerly accepted the invitation to be included in their print and digital publications for the first three months of 2026.
Being in business only a few months, I began analyzing my few but completed works for consideration. My Wired Series featuring works integrated with recycled wire had only launched two weeks prior. With painful assistance from my very opinionated family, I planned the three most diverse paintings to submit in hopes of showing diversity in my painting style. Selecting two of the abstract paintings from the Wired Series took a great deal of courage as abstract work was a new avenue for me at that time. Selecting the Red 7 Billiard ball from a summer series was a fun and bold choice I thought would jump off any page with its vibrant colors. Plus, they are a great source of love and pride for my mom who covets that series in our family home.
Aside: Mom, you still owe me for those paintings.
In December I received an early copy of the January Issue that would hit newsstands a few weeks later. It was such a moment of validation and pride to be recognized by such a world renowned company and see something I created in print for Condé Nast World of Interiors magazine. I felt motivated by the acknowledgment of my work, impacting art enthusiasts I had never and would likely never meet. This was my first milestone accomplishment in a hopeful list of many.
